Gotta love your plans this will be a quick little beast once finished and I for one am looking forward to that day...

yeah i got the cooler setup ok bud, iirc it arrived just before/during the forum downtime and at the time I had no other way to get a hold of you to let you know :)

cheers rich, can't wait myself to be honest, as its been a few years since I've built a full motor setup like this and having a ~200bhp n/a motor again will certainly put a smile on my face. what I want now though is a set of naff looking 16" wheel trims to hide the alloys and restore my sleeper look lol

Wow - that's quite a mouth-watering spec you've got lined up there mate :)
On the brake side of things - perhaps I mis-understood, but I wouldn't recommend 310 mm discs on the rear w/out some some of adjustment to the bias valve. Otherwise I could see it locking up the rears way too easily, especially on a wet road . . . . . .

thanks paul, its quite a complete build but i'm still going back and forth on getting uprated springs and lighter retainers, but im not sure they are needed tbh. for the brakes the sumitomo's are for the fronts not the rears, i'll edit the post as it is a little unclear at that bit.

liam I just realised what you meant re the tach, I don't get why my base model has an 8k tach and your twister only has 7k on its one? makes no sense

thanks mark :)

well as it was the usual bank holiday weather I decided to start on the front half of my filter surround which connects the surround directly to the 4" cai. so I set about making a mockup out of cardboard which I would then cut up to create templates for the alu sheet, but as luck would have it the sun came out so we decided to make the best of it and take the dog to balmedie beach, so the cardboard mockup was all I got done this afternoon (though I'm away to start cutting alu now) the good thing is that even with just the cardboard version, and not even sealing it properly the journey there had temperatures over 5°c lower than the return journey with the cardboard piece removed, plus the ambient air was cooler on the return leg!

well here's the almost completed front half, just need to rivet it together and then cut the hole for the cai mouthpiece to fit into. i'll get it finished up and fitted tomorrow :)

Should be pretty effective this, good work dude.

Plans to finish it with something? I'd slap some matt black over it :) Or how about that rubber spray stuff?

yeah my remote temp sensor certainly came in handy with this mod, as I wasn't sure if restricting the filter to only a 4" opening would rob power, or even lower temps, but thankfully I felt no power loss and the temp guage showed it works well pulling the air from under the wing. for finishing it I will polish it up a little, as its all aluminium so I don't need to worry about rusting, and black attracts heat so deffo not that, though you now have me thinking about a coat of that spray rubber in clear to save me having to keep cleaning/polishing it :D

well in the hopes of fixing my mystery squeak I went and paid £58 for an nsk wheel bearing, we then went through the hassle of swapping it out without a bearing press only to find out its the bloody wheel hub that's fookered where it mates with the bearing race on the inner half. time to go rape the other n16!

Aww gutting mate :( are you going to change the bearing while its all off anyway?

-phone-

yeah tell me about it, and we had to use the new bearing as removing the hub and bearing without a puller or press virtually guarantees damaging the bearing, in fact that's the new bearing fitted in the pic

unlucky mate, you should stop smoking aswell :D

yeah tell me, its so rare for the hub to go instead of the bearing, but at least that's 2 things I've gotten to use off your old n16  and while I do smoke, those are nistro's :p

Its our cars that drive us to smoking :p haha the tax man gets his money one way or another lol. Nice work though guys ,I really need to get on and do swap my cv over I've still got the none abs autech one

You do know all you have to do is swap the ABS ring... Not the whole Cv...
