Ah I see so that means you'd want to save the Kendo's for a winter set or sell them to me in a few months right :P

I want to see yours, Kingy's and a few others but you're opposite ends of the country damn you lol

you wouldn't want them, two are in primer, one is bare metal and only one is finished in the black and red below

I can sell you a set of 3 17" gold team dynamics that are off 'that' mera, there are 4 but one is badly buckled :p

once the car is finished i'll come down to one of the big meets south of the border, so you may yet get to ogle at her up close, remember you can look for free, but it costs to touch her ;)

Same goes bud but yeah I'd love to see her up close so I know what to aim for looks wise lol.

Then I'd have to pay for a passenger ride I expect haha

looks wise? your car looks better than mine already bud!! mine is just a stock looking entry level 1.5e with half decent wheels that need smaller tyres and a refurb lol, though once I get the skirts, spoiler, as well as what ever I decide to do to the rear (autech sr-v spats or ph1 gti rear splitter) done she'll be a bit more presentable, though she'll have definately lost the sleeper look then :/

'passenger ride' is that some sort of euphemism for a kinky 3 way or something? tell you what, if you ever make it up to one of the crail drag days i'll let you take it down the line :)

Looking forward to seeing it perform at Crail dude - the only way I'll be keeping up this time is to take the bike down, lol. Now that my undertray's back to health, it should knock oh maybe 1/4 of a sec off my diesel's time

Looks wise under the bonnet but thanks lol. Mine's not even got skirts on atm :(

If I go to Crail I won't be running it but hell yeah I'd love to go in yours for sure :D

now don't be silly, you turn that tuning box up to flywheel shattering and i bet it will post a good 1/4, torque is king on the strip as you know, and it would be well unfair to expect me to go against the bike, christ even a R6 can do mid 10 second passes

ahh i see, there's not much different under there cosmetic wise either bud, just a set of aftermarket ht leads, an alu intake pipe, an alu filter surround, an alu oil filler cap, a nismo radiator cap and a strutbrace. skirts or not it still looks better than mine lol. why wouldn't you run? it's good fun no matter how fast your car is as your only really racing against your self and your fastest time ;). last time at crail there was 5 of us having a go in my car, it did about 30 runs that day lol

Nah - my tub is soooo restricted in 1st & 2nd gear, by the time it let me use 300 lbs/ft of torque in 3rd you'd be long gone !
As for the bike - mine's is 10 yrs old & runs 11.7 sec 1/4 ml times, so it just kept up with a standard R35 :)

will the tuning box not aid in bypassing the tubby restriction in first and second bud?

well as I had my filter box out of the car for final fitting of the front half and sealing I decided to clean the apexi filter and the maf, so starting with the filter i firstly set about it with the hoover

then I took a bottle of this and set about cleaning the filter properly

IMG_20120416_214021.jpg

and after 20 minutes or so this is what I was left with

IMG_20120416_214917.jpg

so with the cleaning fluid rinsed out of the filter i then set it aside to air dry. with that done I moved on to the maf, for this i sprayed some brake and clutch cleaner into a lid and used cotton buds dipped into it to clean the sensor elements (be very careful if you try this as the elements are very fragile), I forgot to take a before photo to show the filth but as you can see by the colour of the cotton buds the elements were filthy!

and the finished cleaned elements

I have also finished the airbox, but I can't assemble it until the filter element has dried so i'll post up some pics of it tomorrow.

A necessary exercise there Phil, what filter cleaner do you use bud? Mines been on a while now so could do with it myself :) look forward to the fitted pics.

Didnt expect that much dirt on the element. Can the filter cleaner be picked up in an auto factors?

I would be terrified to clean mine with a cotton bud, not too easy find another one if I broke it.

yeah it was definitely needed on both accounts, I normally only do this yearly at spring time but I think I may step it up to every 6 months for this setup going by what I found tonight. as for the cotton bud method yeah its butt clenching due to the cost/difficulty sourcing a correct replacement for the ve, but if you take your time and have good hand/eye coordination it's quite easy to clean them this way :). for the dirt from the filter its mostly tiny particles of dust/dirt, the cleaner is very good at getting it loosened from the element and after an hour or so all the dirt had settled to the bottom corner of the container and the fluid was see through again! though I still discarded it as its one use only.

the filter cleaner came in a kit for the filters we had on the rally car, we bought half a dozen of the kits a few years back and this was the last of them. it's from a company called JR, its a 2 part kit which comes with the cleaner and a bottle of filter recharge oil (though this wont be used on the apexi as its a dry filter), it was about £15 for the kit. iirc k&n sell a filter cleaning fluid on its own so that might be cheaper and easier to find.

Phil, are you sure the filter cleaner will not inhibit the dry filter from doing it's job as I know the oiled ones need to be re-oiled to fully function again does a similar process need to be done to ensure the dry filter does what it should do or just they need to fully dry?

Apexi one doesn't need oil to be a good filter.. besides oil in filters can clog our maf sensors.

Check this out Rich :)

u are aware filters have oil in them when u buy them to help catch particals of dust and shit, also if u took the time to read the care sheet that comes with most of them it tells u once u have washed them to spray them with filter oil its also the same reason that both the K&N i bought with my first gti and the piperX filter i now have both came with oil
