N16 SR16VE

I have Neuton nt5000's all round which I inherited on dales wheels.

They are excellent in the wet and dry and hardly wear at all without feeling like a Lego tyre.

I presume the 8000 is the update to the ones i have. Only issue is I have a very slow puncture in one of them.

well I've just been for a little blat in the rain and again I'm impressed with these tyres, much better than the bridgestones they just replaced!

yeah that's right hally, the nt8000 is the nt5000's replacement, and when the time comes i'll be replacing the rears with the same with no hesitation! slow punctures do my head in, I always go get them repaired right away!

yeah it does ben but he has his nemu stuff there and the map for the sr16 so that should be going in soon and then he can change the switch points

Cool that's good to hear, I know it is allegedly for economy and that but it just seems to put the power band so high and just takes an age to get back in the powerband going into 3rd or 4th.

the drop looks worse in that vid as its wheel spinning and bouncing off the limiter before I shift to second, but this vid was taken just for StevenC to see the limiter bounce, not to show the 0-60 time lol. normally the drop from first to second isn't bad, but your right about second to third being quite a drop, it was much better when I was running the 205/55/16's I had but now I'm back to 205/50's its a little worse again. you also need to take into account that being on the high lobes lower in the rev range might not make any more power over the low lobes so being on the high lobes doesn't necessarily mean more power, you just need to think of the high lobes as a way of extending the powerband, not the only way to make power, though thankfully when I drop in the n1 cams the low lobes will make more power as well, and of course the 2L bottom end will help some too :D

Yeah that's cool bud, I think a 20VE with decent cams and lower switch point is the best idea, will be cool seeing how your build goes, good luck with it.

It's more the wait to get back on VVL that I notice really! Surely it should accelerate better with smaller tyres though, giving better centripetal acceleration if I remember correctly, having the effect or reducing the gearing ratio of the car.

yeah a 2L will make more torque over the 1.6 due to the longer stroke, but changing the switch points takes a bit of working out to find the optimum settings. thanks, I'm really looking forward to it too :)

yeah you accelerate quicker with smaller wheels, but for any given rpm your going slower, so for the best acceleration/speed you need to find the balance point for the engine's torque range. also like i said don't just assume that being on vvl/high lobes at lower revs is going to make more power, because it doesn't work like that, so being off vvl doesn't mean its not making the best power at that rev point ;)

also just for you here's a normal 0-70mph run to show the shifting points, I couldn't go any faster as this was on a public road :)

is that our lovely straight road by anychance lol

thanks, its been a fun project so far :)

but how about you just post a link on that forum to here, it will be easier that way as I don't speak/write Nahuatl or Spanish ;)

just got word that my daleworx custom tri-y is on it's way

thanks again for this dale, much appreciated :)

its not here yet bud so I can't review it yet, there are dyno pulls on dales 11:1 sr20 without any tuning done and the tri-y lost some at the top end but gained at the bottom end (where the ve needs it). i'll ask dale if its ok to share the graphs etc, and i'm sad to say that dales own one and this one are the only two he's making
