Nistro, apexi filters don't need oil.

But Eddie didn't read Phil's post anyway as he said this.

rich the dry filters just need to be dry, the element has holes sized to catch the particles and don't require oil to help this.

guys not all filters require oiling, especially the paper filters like the apexi, its mostly cotton and some foam filters that require oiling :)

Apexi one doesn't need oil to be a good filter.. besides oil in filters can clog our maf sensors.

Check this out Rich :)

I just let mine dry, doesn't state it needs re-oiling anywhere ive seen.

Just trying to confirm washing the dry filter won't affect the filtration I know the oiled ones are not best for certain Maf's.

Cheers Phil just making sure as have used K&N ones before but only use apexi dry now but wanted to know I wasn't causing any damage in washing it etc?

nah as long as you use proper filter cleaner and use a dunking motion to clean it, rinse it properly with hot water and then leave it to air dry it will be fine bud, just don't set about it with a brush or that when its wet as you'll risk tearing it. as you can see a fair amount of dirt came out of a relatively clean looking filter so it's definitely worthwhile :)

With my blitz I just used to get it in the bath with the shower head on it. Fucking horrible the shit that comes out

heh that's how I rinsed out the cleaning fluid, yeah its amazing the amount of crud that comes out of them considering they are pretty enclosed from the elements.

yeah true enough bud.

well the filter surround is now 99% complete, I've just to make the sealing lip and fit it, it will also be painted using plastidip but that will be a week away as they have no stock of the aerosol till friday. here's a few pics of it fitted onto the car.

so after cleaning the maf and filter and refitting them I cleared the self learning on the ecu and took it for a spin round some twisty b roads, and it may be placebo effect but the throttle response feels much sharper and it feels a little quicker in acceleration too :)

still think u should go the route im going and get the battery into the boot and just close of that side with a box

with the n16 having a nice big hole to route the 4" cai piping down into the inner wing I think making a full box there wont make much difference to the temp of the air drawn in bud, where as on the n15 it should improve things, but we'll get the temp sensor on both when they are finished and find out for sure :)

well the nice tnt man just turned up with my neutons, they are surprisingly light for this size of tyre and I like the little lip for protecting the wheels, along with the reinforced sidewalls which feel quite strong when standing on them

they have a nice tread pattern too, and I also like the little touch of putting their name down inside the tread groove lol

thank fuck u finally have some proper tyres now go get them fitted and get some pictures so i can forget that it looks like a monster truck.

also u get 205 for both front and rear ?

heh you and me both bud, unfortunately its just the fronts as money is earmarked for other stuff, going to nip to our favourite tyre place after we've been to tesco's to get them fitted and maybe get the tracking done depending on what kind of deal they offer ;)

I don't think the airbox looks too pretty mate, but it should certainly make a difference to the intake temps & that's what it's all about  Who makes Neuton ? Are they made by a bigger brand ?

yeah its not looking its best, but there is only so much you can do with handtools lol, I had already decided to paint it using plastidip before I fitted it which will have it looking a little better at least but function over form and all that ;)

the neutons are supposedly made/owned by yokohama, they are just getting fitted just now so i'll have an initial report soon :)

well the neuton nt8000's are now on the car and I'm really surprised by them, their grip in the dry is really stunning for a midrange tyre and easily matches toyo proxes t1r's! the sidewall flex feels very minimal, even when really pushing them in the corners, and when they do finally start to understeer it's progressive and easily controlled. they give good feedback through to the steering wheel and they are honestly miles better than the bridgestone turanza's they just replaced, they also create less noise than them too. all I hope for now is half decent wet weather performance with reasonable wear and I've found my new midrange tyres!

It's a very long time since I had any Yokohamas, anything I said about them would be out of date. So it's interesting to get this feedback on a tyre I hadn't heard of before. If they're good in the rain too, then it's all win :)
