Ross Autech

I've found my autech to be very odd with regards to timing. When my Dad went to racing line they fiddled with it a lot, the dizzy was nearly fully advanced but read as 17 degrees with no pinking. As you know I had issues getting it to fire up with the new dizzy (With the odd mounting points) until I fettled it drastically.
Just slacken the bolts off and twist it while someone cranks it.

oh yeh sorry misread, in that case i'm fully with corbs on timing. can't see any other reason and i've had similar weird issues before

what i dont understand is why it was running before, no changes made to the car and it doesnt run now...

It is strange I agree.
Unless you've blown a fuse or disturbed something under the Inlet while swapping the Starter Motor? (IACV, TPS, MAF, Vac lines?)

nope cause between it running fine and the starter going it would turn over and not start.

basically

friday - 5pm started fine with a charged battery
friday - 9pm wouldnt start, assumed out of fuel
friday - 10.30pm fuel in, turned over but wouldnt start.
saturday - 11am dad tries to start it and started just clicks, no turning over
tuesday - replaced started, turns over fine but wont start.

Check the plug on the back of the IACV, if I remember rightly, it was difficult to make it click and lock down, it could have come loose

try changing the fuel filter. if you've run it low/out of fuel, could have shucked all the shit out of the bottom of the tank, partly blocking the fuel filter and cause low fuel pressure in the rail.

but its flooding?

i did consider that, but the fact it is flooding drew me away from this conclusion.

joe you edited your message to include the 'wiki' insult after your initial post, so i could see that your actions were clearly thought out. like you said this is supposed to be a freindly forum so what's your problem with me?

Im really fucking ratty so to fuck with this arguement. nobody gives a shit who knows about aerodynamics and quite frankly nobody gives a shit about aerodynamics in general.

ive replaced the fuel filter. no luck

I burned the fuel out the bores, removing all hair from my hands and forearms and deafening myself when it exploded violently.

moved the dizzy back to its central location. however the cap is fucked now cause one of the screws has snapped so im gonna need a new dizzy.

wonder if i can make a GTi dizzy fit...

Im at a loss... totally stumped...

not much help solving the problem, but the oil pumps died on my highport eGT so if you need any bits give me a shout, id imagine the dizzy would be the same as yours save messing? ran perfect until the pump died

Won't work if yours uses an external coil unfortunately

I can understand eddies comment to be honest. As it gives downforce it must be in the air flow, therefore if the mounts are loose, there is a lot of air pressure acting against it.

Well fortunately it's very simple in the realms of understanding why a spoiler which is designed for downforce will fly off if the mountings let loose, you don't need a degree a child could understand the principle

/corbs/

Hope you get the spoiler fitted okay buddyy, wouldn't want it flying off now would you ;)
