Sr20de cam install tips/help

Mine was out because i was being a spaz and for some reason the timing dits had to be at 10 to 2 with 22links.

It started but drove, very roughly might i add.

I simply rotated the exhaust cam to remove the 2 links extra links and all was well.

And before you all pipe up with the 'use the wood' i was changing back from adjustable gears so had the chain completely off the sprockets, tensioner out too.

I think if I were to change cams again I would have to be picky and wind it until the coloured links matched up. Then it's fool proof

Right all checks out now, with the links ect,i repostion the intake cam as it was one link out,i use paint marks ect this time,i have pics of the chain, spockets, dizzy, rotor ect ,still not starting  I post pics soon.

The only thing i can think of is that you've either:
  • left something unplugged?
  • It's not fueling?
  • what about NATS, is the immobilizer deactivating?
  • have you 100% got the dizzy leads and chamber numbers correct?
  • Dizzy plugs all on?
  • put a known good battery on, don't assume yours is fine (trial and error)

Deffo fueling, getting spark, all plugged up,not sure about nats,ht leads correct order, battery good, checked and checked again, you see the pics later, and you will all see what looks like to be fine.

looks right.

are you definately at TDC? not does the crank say you are, but have you stuck a screwdriver down one of the plug holes and rotated it to make sure its at true TDC?

the way i see it is the longer you keep up the trial and error, the more likely you are gonna make it worse.

I have deffo fuel, deffo spark,i have the screwdriver down number one spark plug hole for TDC,it in my pic above !

I seem to have abit of chain slack in the middle of the cam sprockets,is that normal,if i turn the crank,or cam very, very slightly it tighten up,and still stops on TDC.

How can i tell s3 cams from normal cams ??,only thing i notice is that there is a white ring/paint on one end of the intake cam !

S3R's arent marked up as they are ground from Nissan blanks IIRC

Did you take your chain tensioner out? Is it back in now and extended?
