Sams VZ-R N1

Sam im sure a N1 rad is the same thickness as a GTI one, the fan shroud and connectors are different though ill double check tomorrow. Possibly a GA16DE rad got fitted at some stage.

Got them for an absolute bargain, brand new never used just need pads, its a 285mm kit for a GTiR, a stock banjo bolt even goes in the back :)

Have to decide what pads to run now I wanted Ferodo DS2500 but they aren't made for the Midilite calipers...

Had been after a set for ages, gave up looking bought the Brembos then these popped up like 2 days later.... Typical.

I will check my Rad this week I'm only going off something I read a while back. Its still the original in my car anyway been a little while since I've even seen it now. :(

I'm going to fit the ally one and see if it does anything to the temps leaving my sender in the same place so will be a good way of comparing.

I can't FUCKING wait to drive it now

Tinkering with the Ally rad, I dont like being able to see things through the front bumper so set about sorting that.

Tapped out the top holes for new bolts

no havnt fitted it yet, Ive measured it up roughly and shouldnt have any issues, with my lambda being in the collector I have plenty of clearance at the front of the manifold.

I want to fit everything for the front end all at once to save taking it apart several times.

Test fitted the rad, its very snug and Im going to have to move the temp sender

Lots of clearance with the manifold

Some diff in the size... that's a tripple core rad yeah?

The brother had 2 of those monster alu rads in his integra before and both fecking sprung leaks out through the weld... ya would then take it out and get it welded and a month later it would spring a leak out of another spot. I think the first one was non branded but the second was a mishimoto... dunno just never had faith in them after that.

the problem is with welding them, the second you do they will leak.

you should never weld an ally rad once the core has been put in.

Yeah, I wanted to get a bit welded but was advised against it because it would leak.

The fittings on the top and bottom sections are all welded together then the final step is to weld in the core. Any welding after this will cause it to leak unfortunately..

I was hoping to be able to keep the sender in the same place as this would have given me a direct comparison, I will have to have a fiddle and see if I can get it to fit.

Rad looks great Sam.
I've had nothing but trouble with mine. First one arrived and leaked when I ran it and the second one arrived, went to fit it and snapped the overflow pipe off it.
Just remembered did you ever get that Gti-R Coolant block I sent you?

where abouts did it leak from? this one supposedly cost the original owner over £200

Ive filled it up a few times, havnt noticed any leaks from it yet, hasnt had any pressure in it though yet, so I wont know until I run it up for the first time.

I dont honestly know bud, I found some GTi ones in an envelope from a long time ago when I wanted some to tap holes in. Il have to have another look

It leaked from just next to the Rad filler cap on one of the weld lines. I never noticed it until I ran the car up to operating temp to test if the fans would kick in and noticed steam coming from under the bonnet. It was only a pin sized hole but I sent it back.
If I can't fix the new one i'm gonna refit my standard Autech rad.
If what you say about welding is right, I don't fancy my chances with it.

If you have it welded its guaranteed to leak :(

I haven't welded it yet, was going to tap out the hole and have a threaded tube made out of steel to fit the thread where it sheared off.
Fucking cheap Chinese radiators!!!
